Notes about volunteering:

  • Our need for volunteers is often sporadic so the best thing to do is send in a completed volunteer application to introduce yourself (or email us your location, availability, and your experience in the area you are interested in volunteering).
  • Lighthouse assigns volunteer opportunities based on volunteer interests, capabilities, suitability, availability, and demand.
  • Our volunteer opportunities are varied—some are one-time only or ongoing, and many volunteers are on-call.
  • Some volunteering can be done from home.
  • Most in-person volunteering is done Monday to Thursday during business hours however our many awareness and occasional fundraising events usually occur at night or on the weekend.
  • We check references and run criminal background checks as required when volunteers work directly with clients.
