Volunteering at the Lighthouse

Loyal volunteers preparing the mailing of our large print newsletter.

The Lighthouse uses volunteers in many capacities to reduce the administrative cost of providing services.

Virtual Opportunities (using your own computer in the comfort of your home):

  • Graphic Designer (create professional looking documents/design elements that appeal to a range of audiences)
  • Google AdWords Expert (monitor our campaign and recommend adjustments)

If you want to apply to become a volunteer, please download our volunteer application. Then print it, and fill it out and send it in. We’ll call to confirm receipt of your application and provide you with more information.

Notes about Volunteering:

  • Lighthouse assigns responsibilities based on volunteer interests, capabilities, and availability.
  • Our volunteer opportunities are ongoing and sometimes on-call.
  • We have a quarterly newsletter as well as other mailers to send, and we have various events throughout the year. We need people to help with mailings and help with events on a regular basis.
  • We need drivers, cleaners and gardeners on a weekly basis.
  • We need writers on a regular basis to help spruce up newsletters, proposals and other written media.
  • Our list of positions is not exhaustive. If there’s something you’d like to volunteer for that’s not on our list, please let us know.
  • Before signing up a volunteer, we check references and run criminal background checks as required.
