Chasco Coronation Ball 2011

On Friday, March 25, at a beautiful black tie event, the community honored all the nominees for King Pithla and Queen Chasco.

It was the 26th Annual CHASCO Coronation Ball Benefiting the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind and almost 330 people attended.

Nearly $50,000 was raised to provide services for area citizens who are visually impaired or blind and the Lighthouse is grateful for the support of this wonderful community. Major sponsors and supporters of the event included:

Honorees were nominated because their peers believed them worthy of the title based on their untiring service to the West Pasco community and to people in need. A nomination is truly an honor in and of itself.

Congratulations to Queen and King:

Queen Chasco for 2011 is Judith Koutsos, nominated by The Rotary Club of New Port Richey, where she has volunteered her time and talents for many years. Judith has made it her mission to develop the arts in West Pasco County including founding The Gateway Music Society.

She has organized many fundraisers through-out the years such as Fashion shows, large Folk Festivals (the 1st in Pasco County), Spring Concerts and organized a Chamber Ensemble to list just a few.

Judith also belongs to Daughters of Penelope, where she is currently President, PACE Center for Girls as a Board Member and All Children’s Hospital Foundation where she serves as Treasurer.

She is currently organizing OPA NIGHT! where the funds raised go to North Bay Hospital Foundation, All Children’s Hospital Foundation, and other local charities.

Judith has donated food and the use of the Spartan Manor to assist local non-profits and organizations in their causes.

King Pithla for 2011 is Charles (Chuck) R. Grey, nominated by Morton Plant Mease North Bay Hospital where he has served as a Board Member since 2007.

Chuck is extremely active in the community and belongs to many organizations. He is an active member of The Rotary Club of New Port Richey since 1985 and has held multiple positions including Co-Chair for Food Prep for the Wild Game Dinner Fundraiser.

In addition he belongs to the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce where he has held many leadership positions including President, participated in Relay for Life since 2001, active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, CRA Advisory Board for City of NPR, United Way Board Member, Chairman of Pasco County Planning & Zoning Board and many more.

Chuck has been awarded Realtor of the Year, Paul Harris Fellow New Port Richey Rotary Club, Eminent Pioneer Award Chamber of Commerce, and Military Service Awards including Meritorious Unit Citation.

The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind, which offers independent living skills and vocational rehabilitation training to the visually impaired and blind, is proud to be the organization that presented this wonderful event honoring these two outstanding citizens of West Pasco and all the other nominees.
